Lisa Wenner- Veterinary Technician, Hospital Manager

Lisa graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at the University of Minnesota-Waseca in March of 1982. She has been working at MVAH since it opened in July of 1988, and is serving as our Hospital Manager also. She lives in Shoreview with her cat Jaymes. In her free time she likes baking, gardening, listening to country music, going to Twins games, and spending time with her family on their farm in St. Peter, Minnesota.

Mary Kay Hastay- Certified Veterinary Technician, Senior Technician Mary Kay is a Certified Veterinary Technician and is a graduate from the Medical Institute of Minnesota, now known as Argosy Technical College.  Mary Kay has been with MVAH since October of 1995, and is our Senior Technician.  She currently lives in the Mounds View area with her husband and one of her daughters. She has 2 dogs, Maggie (Labrador Retriever) and Diamond (Terrier mix), and 3 cats Cinder, Lucky, and Mama Kitty. In her spare time she enjoys reading and spending time with her family at their cabin up north.

Anne Graves- Veterinary Technician, Boarding Manager Anne graduated from the Medical Institue of Minnesota in June of 1991.  She has been with MVAH since September of 2001, and is currently our Boarding Manager also. Anne has two cats named Pie and Smudge, and two dogs, a Golden Retriever named Ozzy and a Corgi/Jack Russell Terrier mix named Rosco.  Anne likes to go to the movies, cross-stitch, outdoor trail hiking, and biking. She lives in Ramsey with her husband, Scott, and her daughter Shelby.

Julie Smith- Certified Veterinary Technician Julie graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at the Medical Institue of Minnesota in June of 1995.  She has been with MVAH since July of 2002.  She lives in Crystal with her husband Matt and their children Jacob, Matelyn, and Jameson.  She has one dog named Buddy, and three cats named Kato, Chester, and Jack.  She enjoys spending time outdoors and at her family's cabin.

Josh Schefers- Veterinary Technician Josh graduated from the Veterniary Technology program at Ridgewater College in Willmar in May of 2003.  Josh did his internship at MVAH and has been working here since September of 2003.  He currently lives in Blaine with his two cats Jethro and Lynx. In his free time he enjoys going to the movies, listening to music, spending time outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.

Heidi Oknich- Certified Veterinary Technician Heidi graduated from Argosy University in 2003 and has been working at MVAH since September of 2003.  She currently lives in Elk River with her husband Nate and their two American Bulldogs, Bowser and Phoenix.  She would also like to have a horse in the future.  In her free time she likes to sing, hang out with friends, and is involved in church activities.

Heather Immediato- Certified Veterinary Technician Heather graduated in 2000 from the Medical Institute of Minnesota.  Heather has worked in the veterinary field since 1997, and she has a wide range of experience with many different species including exotics, large and companion animals.  Heather joined the MVAH team in September 2004.  Heather resides in Coon Rapids with her husband Tony and their two children Anthony and Ava.  They have three cats named Buddy, Jewels, and Spike.  Heather enjoys fishing, listening to music, and a good old-fashioned card game with her friends and family.

Christine Evans- Certified Veterinary Technician Christine graduated from Argosy College in October of 2005.  She has been with MVAH since March of 2004.  She started out as a part-time veterinary/kennel assistant, and now is a full-time veterinary technician.  She currently resides in Coon Rapids with her husband Wyatt and two daughters Penelope and Charlotte.  She has a dog named Lily and two cats named Kashi and Tobi.  In her free time she enjoys drawing, reading, and spending time with her family.

Carrie Maciej- Certified Veterinary Technician Carrie graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at the Minnesota School of Business in September of 2006.  Carrie started at MVAH in September of 2006 also.  Carrie lives in Coon Rapids with her husband Jeff.  They have two dogs, a Pug named Sammy and a Golden Retriever named Bianca.  They also have two Bengal cats named Te-amo and Tiara.  In her free time she enjoys gardening, scrap booking, and spending time outdoors and with her family and friends.   Angie Schrock- Certified Veterinary Technician Angie graduated in June of 2007 from the Minnesota School of Business. She did her internship at MVAH before joining the team as a full-time veterinary technician in June of 2007.  She currently lives in Brooklyn Park with her husband Jeff and their two dogs, Jake (Labrador Retriever) and Boogie (Pug).  In her free time she enjoys cooking, gardening, spending time on the lakes, and taking naps with her Pug.   Amanda Effertz- Certified Veterinary Technician Amanda is a CVT, and graduated from the Medical Institute of Minnesota. She has been with MVAH since 2002. She currently resides in Wyoming with her husband Mike and their two children Emily and Zander. She also has 2 cats named Dori and Little Tinker. In her free time she enjoys reading, running and playing with her children.   Receptionist Joan Evans- Veterinary Receptionist Joan has been with MVAH since January of 2003. She has been in the animal field for over 16 years. She currently resides in Blaine with her husband John and their dog named Shelby and cat named Lursa. In her free time she enjoys square dancing, bicycling, cooking, scrapbooking, and sewing.   Boarding Staff Bethany Kelch- Assistant Boarding Manager / Veterinary Assistant Bethany started working at MVAH in May of 2003 as a veterinary/kennel assistant and is now serving as our Assistant Boarding Manager. She currently lives in Lino Lakes with her 3 dogs (Bear, Chance, and Moose) and 4 cats (Niccolo, Opie, Princess, and Pudder). In her free time she enjoys camping, fishing, biking, rollerblading, canoeing, knitting, and going to the movies with friends.   Heidi Schroer- Veterinary Assistant / Kennel Assistant Heidi is currently a student at the University of Minnesota - College of Veterinary Medicine and will graduate with a D.V.M. degree in June of 2011. Ann Rausch- Kennel Assistant Ann graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Journalism, and majored in Adult Education. She works full time at the University of Minnesota. She has been working as a kennel assistant at MVAH since June of 2002. She currently lives in Shoreview with her husband Jon and their son Henry. She also has 2 dogs (Ruby and Stevie) and one cat (Moxie). In her free time she enjoys painting, reading, hiking, and decorating her home. Alex Hastay- Kennel Assistant Alex is a graduate of Irondale High School, and is currently attending Anoka-Ramsey Community College majoring in business. Becca Schnabel- Kennel Assistant Becca is currently a junior at Centennial High School with an emphasis on Art, English, and History.  She is also on the swim team. Jeff Barcus- Kennel Assistant Jeff is currently a senior at Mounds View High School with an emphasis on Biology and Chemistry.
